The Nuclear AMRC is making a commitment throughout 2023 to give back through charitable activities.
The Nuclear AMRC leadership team have chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as their first charity of the year, with a target of £25,000 alongside support to regional charities such as Treetops Hospice. We feel that it is important for us to lead by example and stand up for good causes, and our support of Macmillan is a great opportunity to help people with cancer to live life as fully as they can.
Kickstarting activities over 2023, we have entered the Keswick to Barrow event with a 40-mile walk / run in the Lake District on Saturday 13 May. We will also be making the most of our planned events and wider activities over the course of the year to promote and support this initiative including our flagship Nuclear Manufacturing Summit supply chain conference on 11–12 October.
Andrew Storer, CEO of the Nuclear AMRC, said: “I’m really pleased to be supporting Macmillan as part of our charity work in 2023. The support Macmillan provides is excellent and essential for individuals and families, which is why we have committed to raising this money so they can continue their work. I’m sure we all know someone who has or is affected by cancer so I really hope our network will support our efforts where possible.”
Michaela Ryder, Macmillan’s Senior Fundraising Manager, said: “We are incredibly excited to be working with Nuclear AMRC this year. Right now, more than three million people are living with cancer in the UK, rising to four million by 2030. That means on average someone is diagnosed with cancer every 90 seconds. What we do has never been more important or urgent, but we are almost entirely funded by donations, so simply couldn’t continue our vital work without the support of organisations like Nuclear AMRC. Together we will do whatever it takes to give people with cancer the support they need.”
We look forward to finalising our events over the course of the year and working with our network including members, partners, Fit For Nuclear companies and our wider stakeholder to maximise the impact of our work to generate funds, raise awareness and make a difference.
Our thanks go out in advance for your positive support for this initiative and contributions that will be made to support us in achieving our goal.
